To be honest, I didn’t really even know what handball was until we showed up — I envisioned something along the lines of squash. It’s a weird blend of basketball, hockey and soccer, and was surprisingly exciting. On the random-meter, we saw Egypt vs. Iceland. These two were huge Iceland fans, and handed out flags to other fans who were clearly Chinese and clearly happy to cheer along for Iceland. My wife Jen felt sorry for Egypt, so she cheered for them. The match ended in a tie, which seemed to make Iceland very happy. They went on to win the silver medal (nothing for Egypt — sorry, Jen).
